WEP Clinical is pleased to announce that its UK customs authorization has been upgraded from a Private to a Public Customs Warehouse (Type C). This means WEP can now act as warehousekeeper for multiple depositors, allowing clients to store goods under customs supervision without paying duty or import VAT until release.

Key benefits for clients:

  • Duty & VAT suspension – defer payment until goods enter free circulation.
  • Zero duty on re-export – goods leaving the UK without entering free circulation never trigger duty or VAT.
  • Indefinite storage – no time limits, ideal for long-term programs.
  • Depositor-specific locations – full segregation and traceability in our IMS.

How this improves operating models:

  • Paid-for Named Patient distribution: Pre-position stock in the UK customs warehouse. Release only when a patient need arises, avoiding upfront duty/VAT and improving cash flow.
  • 3PL: Use WEP as a customs-enabled 3PL. You remain Depositor and Importer of Record with your own EORI, while WEP manages the warehouse, stock records, and customs compliance.
  • Consignment: Hold consignment stock in suspension. Title stays with you; duty/VAT are only triggered when goods are sold or used. Unused stock can be re-exported duty-free.

A leading global biopharmaceutical company has already adopted this model with WEP, acting as Depositor and Importer of Record while WEP operates as warehousekeeper under the new Public Customs Warehouse authorization.
